Sword drill game online
Bibles closed, held high. The TV spins up a reference, you shout “Charge!”, and every table races to find it. The first table to stand buzzes in from a phone and reads it out. That’s Sword Drills: the classic Bible drill, run by the big screen instead of a stack of index cards.
Free for small groups. No app, no account, nothing for students to download.
How the online sword drill works
Why leaders use it
- No prep. The references are built in, so you’re not writing cards the night before.
- Fair calls. The buzzer order is on the screen, so “we were first!” gets settled fast.
- Real Bibles. Students still flip pages. The phone only buzzes, it never shows the verse.
- A scoreboard everyone can see, and a final-scores reveal when you end the game.
Where the name comes from:
“For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12, CSB
Questions
Is there a free sword drill game online?
Yes. Sword Drills (Classic) is free on Big Room Games for up to 2 tables. A Church License unlocks up to 25 tables, themed rounds and the wildcard final round.
Do students need an app or an account?
No. Each table scans the QR code on the TV and their phone becomes a buzzer in the browser. Nobody signs up or downloads anything.
Do students use real Bibles?
Yes. The screen shows the reference and the race happens in printed Bibles. The phone is only the buzzer.
What do I need to run it?
A computer connected to a TV or projector, your phone as the leader remote, and one phone per table for buzzing in.
